They just don't get you
You're talking to an investor, a coworker or a family member. You're trying to explain what brilliant plan you've dreamt up now, but somehow you just can't seem to get it across.
All you're getting is a blank stare.
How can they not understand what you're saying? It's not that complicated!
No, it probably isn't, but translating your idea into terms that the other person can understand is a skill.
We call it ELI5.
ELI5 stands for Explain Like I'm 5.
That's not meant in a bad way. It's not that everybody is stupid, not at all.
But if you're able to explain your idea to a 5-year old then you can explain it anybody.
Finding the right words, phrasing and language to express your idea isn't easy. During this ELI5 workshop you'll learn to communicate your idea in understandable terms.
Why should you learn this?
Having a great idea is one thing, but if you can't explain it to somebody else then you're not getting anywhere. This is true when you're talking to an investor, talking to your team or trying to explain something to your boss.
If you can explain your idea in laymans terms so that people understand it you can get more done.
- You can pursuade your boss of that great idea
- You can explain to your team what you think you need to do
- You can (finally - sigh) explain what you do so that your family understands
This workshop is for those of you that regularly struggle to conveying your thinking and ideas to others. Fellow nerds will understand you, but less tech oriented people might not.
If you are a developer, start-up founder or an engineer and you want to learn how to explain your ideas more clearly, then this workshop is for you.
